Man convicted of Rachel murder
A jury has found a 23-year-old man guilty of the murder of Rachel Moran.
Rachel, 21, was killed in a frenzied knife attack after a New Year’s Eve party. Her body was later found in a flat 400 yards from her home in Saxcourt, Hull.
Michael Little stabbed the would-be dancer and entertainer more than 20 times, wrapped her body in a curtain and hid it inside a cupboard in his flat in Nashcourt for 28 days, until police discovered it.
Hull Crown Court heard that Mr Little confessed to police when the body was found and later admitted the killing to a fellow inmate after his arrest.
Prosecutor Geoffrey Marson QC told the jury that Little had said to police at his arrest: “I can’t be normal – I must be evil. A normal person would not do that.”
However, during the trial, Little tried to blame the killing on his best friend Marc Fuller.
Sentencing Little to life in prison, Mr Justice Hooper said: “Having killed her, you then hid her body, knowing full well the additional suffering this would cause her family.
“You have heard evidence of the totally destructive impact of the killing of Rachel upon her family.”
Rachel’s disappearance sparked one of the biggest investigations in the history of Humberside Police.
