Terror fears in Saudi
The Foreign Office last night advised travellers to steer clear of Saudi Arabia, amid fears that terrorists may soon launch attacks.
The Foreign Office said the threat was “particularly serious at this time.”
An FCO advised: “We advise British nationals against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia. We believe that terrorists may be in the final phases of planning attacks.”
At the beginning of September it was reported that Saudi police had seized missiles near Jeddah airport in August, capable of attacking passenger planes.
Twenty-six people died alongside nine assailants in suicide bombings at three Western compounds in Riyadh on May 12. Among the dead were two Britons.
The official Saudi Press Agency reported Thursday that 600 people had been arrested on suspicion of having links with al-Qaeda.
