Seven die in Baghdad bombing
A suicide bombing at a police station in Baghdad has left seven people dead and many injured.
The car bomb was believed to be in a white Oldsmobile which drove through the gate at the Sadr City police compound.
Sadr City is a poor, Shia Muslim area of north-east Baghdad. Police Major Majid Abdel-Hameed said that officers fired on the vehicle before it exploded.
The coalition are trying to build up the strength of the Iraqi police force to tackle general crime.

However although police officers are drawn from the local population, those opposed to the coalition’s presence accuse them of being collaborators.
