Labradors used to import cocaine
Three Brits appeared in court yesterday charged with drug smuggling, after 1.6 kilos of cocaine were found inserted in two Labradors.
The dogs arrived at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on September 28 after being flown in from Colombia.
The drugs, placed under the skin of both animals, had to be surgically removed. One of the dogs died. The other is recovering.
Seven people were arrested at Stansted Airport Business Park, Essex, in connection with the incident.
Two men and a woman appeared before magistrates at Chelmsford, Essex, yesterday charged with attempting to import the class A drug.
Glenroy Kentish, 27, Gregory Graham, 26, Sophia McPherson, 23, were remanded in custody to appear before Harlow Magistrates’ Court on October 7.
Four other people have been bailed to return to an Essex Police Station in December pending further inquiries.
