Selby inquest launched
The inquest into the Selby rail disaster is to begin today, and is expected to last one week.
Although the accident happened in 2001, the inquest could not begin while legal proceedings against the car driver held responsible were underway.
Ten people died in the Yorkshire crash, and seventy were injured when Gary Hart drove his Land Rover onto a railway track from the M62.
The Land Rover was hit by a southbound passenger train, which deflected into an oncoming freight train.
Gary Hart was sentenced to five years in prison for dangerous driving, and two appeals against his conviction have been dismissed. He was put on day release after serving 18 months of his sentence in July, angering many of the victims and their families.
