Iran holding ‘major’ al Qaeda members
Iran is holding several key al Qaeda leaders in “safe houses,” according to a Saudi official in Washington.
Saad bin Laden, son of Osama, Saif al-Adel, Egyptian-born military chief for al Qaeda, currently on the FBI’s most wanted list, and Suleiman Abu Ghaith, a Kuwaiti-born spokesman for the terrorists were among those named.
Among those in custody were several Saudi Arabians, the officials said.
The Kingdom wants Iran to return its citizens.
The official added that “at least another 10 to 12 major al Qaeda fish” were among the group in Iran.
It is the first time that the names of those reportedly held in Iran have been named.
