Disgraced Tory peer set to walk free
Disgraced Tory peer Lord Archer plans to reside at his London penthouse rather than at his family home when he is released from prison next week.
The former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party will walk free from Hollesley Bay open prison on Monday after serving half of a four-year sentence for perjury and perverting the course of justice.
His penthouse is on the Albert Embankment, near the Houses of Parliament.
Probation services were informed that prisoner FF8282 would decline to stay at the Old Vicarage, his 17th century country house in Cambridge; the current abode of Lady Archer.
The decision will fuel rumours that Lord Archer may have his sights on rekindling his political career.
He still has a seat in the House of Lords, though he is no longer a member of the Conservative Party.
The peer was adjudged to have lied to a court about his affair with prostitute Monica Coughlan while suing a newspaper for defamation.
On release, Lord Archer cannot go abroad without permission or change his residence.
