British soldier wounded in Basra
A British soldier has been injured in an attack by a sniper in the southern Iraqi town of Basra.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that a soldier has been injured in an attack but would not release the name or the details of his regiment.
However, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defence stated that the soldier is doing well and the injuries are not life threatening. He is being currently treated at an Army field hospital.
The attack took place during a routine patrol on Sunday. This is the first such attack on a British serviceman by a sniper since the end of the war.
