Seven killed in Jerusalem suicide bombings
At least seven people have been killed after two suicide bombers killed themselves in attacks in Jerusalem.
The attacks came just hours after a series of reportedly successful meetings between the Israeli and Palestinian governments.
The meetings were discussing the roadmap for peace and whilst reports suggest that there were still significant differences between the two sides, mediators insist that the fact that these meetings took place is a huge step in the direction of peace.
However, these developments could well be in tatters following the series of explosions that rocked rush-hour Jerusalem.
Early reports suggest that at least seven have been killed and twenty more are injured. The rescue operation at ‘French Hill’ was hampered by the second suicide bomber who killed himself as crews arrived.
However, police have confirmed that only the bomber was killed and no-one was injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the first explosion took place after the bomber boarded a bus and detonated the device.
A spokesman for the Israeli services said: ‘A powerful explosion ripped through the bus. The driver lost control and the bus rolled backwards. The bus was completely broken up.’
