Assisted death, euthanasia and assisted suicide are all different, and all illegal in the UK. Many argue that those with terminal illness should have the right to choose when they face their imminent end of life, but it’s a topic that causes divided opinions.
In contrast to euthanasia and assisted suicide, assisted death would apply to terminally ill people only. Several countries and states around the world have legalised the act.
Campaign groups such as ‘Dignity in Dying’ wants assisted dying to become legal, and politicians have previously tabled bills in order to do this, but so far, none have succeeded due to the moral and ethical debates that surround the issue.
