Prime minister, Boris Johnson, today said he was “sorry for things we simply didn’t get right” as he responded to the publication of the Gray report.
Keir Starmer, the leader of the opposition, said the “eyes of the nation” were on the Conservative party, adding that “whatever your politics, honesty and decency matters”.
Former prime minister, Theresa May, added further pressure, asking the prime minister whether he “didn’t read the rules or he didn’t think they applied to him”.
