Top ten political gaffes of 2013: 8 – Godfrey ‘Sexist-ist man in Britain’ Bloom
The Ukip MEP (he was at the start of the year, anyway) is a walking gaffe machine, as you'll discover if you keep on reading.
But this outdated, sexist view of the glass ceiling issue would by itself surely be enough for any normal politician.
Bloom, writing for Politics.co.uk, argued that women are more interested in making beds and keeping bathrooms tidy than getting on in business.
"Most women can find the mustard in the pantry quicker than a man and most men can reverse a car better than a woman – although my wife can reverse a horsebox through a narrow passageway better than most men," he said.
He also said that feminism, which sought to challenge his views, had been created by "shrill, bored, middle class women of a certain physical genre". Aaaaargh.
