When people start a tweet with 'looking forward to…', they are usually about to go to a party you're not invited to. But fear not – one of MPs' few remaining functions is to make us feel better about our social life. So Damian Hinds ensures there is nothing to envy at the end of his sentences. "Looking forward to tomorrow's Westminster Hall debate on Social Mobility," he says at one point – a sentence which cannot be true and whose use of caps locks defies logic. Then: "Looking forward to assembly this morning at @treloarcollege, then visiting Binsted school." Not long afterwards he is "looking forward to my half-day shift at Bordon Care Shop". Even the tiniest event is diligently catalogued, as Hinds recounts his uninspiring day. For all its tedium, it has its benefits: Not only does it make you feel good about your own life, it also discourages future generations from becoming MPs.
