David Cameron: Discount would send out wrong message

David Cameron, prime minister, defends the government's decision to drop the 50% discount on sentences proposal:

"Discounts for early guilty pleas have been part of the criminal justice system for some time and it's quite right they should be so.

"A 50% discount for the most serious crimes would send the wrong message out to the criminal.

"There will be no change to the current position on early guilty pleas for any category of case."
