Met: March will have ‘appropriate and proportionate’ policing
The Metropolitan Police Service released the following statement ahead of the march:
“London has recently experienced a number of protests and demonstrations in relation to the proposed implementation of cuts to public spending by the government. These events have captured the hearts and minds of many and it is likely in the current economic climate that interest in this issue will continue for the foreseeable future.
“The Metropolitan Police Service is fully aware of the potential impact of any demonstrations on the local business community and is well equipped to deal with events like this.
“We have an appropriate and proportionate policing plan in place and are working closely with the TUC and Westminster city council to ensure that the protest moves through London peacefully and that any disruption is kept to a minimum.”
