David Miliband: Labour must get behind Ed
David Miliband makes his first public comments on his defeat to his brother for the Labour leadership, though refuses to be drawn on his own future:
“I want to say first of all I’ve been incredibly honoured and humbled by the support you’ve given me, but we have a great new leader and we all have to get behind him,
“You never go in for something, especially something so important, unless you’re sure in yourself you’re reconciled to the prospect you might lose. That’s life.
“So to those of you who’ve been coming up to me in the last few days – don’t worry, I’ll be fine.
“I don’t know if you noticed but I came here on Saturday planning a slightly different week. I am now thinking what I am going to do instead.”
