Pope: Catholic Church wants engagement

Pope Benedict XVI comments on his visit to the UK to an interfaith group in London:

“I am pleased to note many positive initiatives to encourage dialogue at a variety of levels.

“My dear friends, let me assure you the Catholic Church follows the path of engagement and dialogue out of a general sense of respect for you and your beliefs.

“Catholics will continue to work to build bridges of friendship with other religions. Let me reiterate my thanks for your welcome.”
