Salmond: No regrets
Alex Salmond, first minister of Scotland, comments on the decision to release Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi to the Today programme:
“You can only take a decision based on information at the time. It’s not unheard of for people released on compassionate grounds to live for longer than the anticipated three months which, incidentally, was specified by Kenny MacAskill last year.
“You don’t have the benefit of hindsight, you can only take a decision on good faith. If you take a decision in good faith you don’t regret it.”
