Saxby, Selaine

Selanie Saxby is‌ ‌the Conservative‌ MP‌ ‌for‌ North Devon‌,‌ ‌having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in 2019‌ with a majority of 14,813.

The North Devon constituency‌ ‌covers the towns of Barnstaple and Ilfracombe and the surrounding rural area close to the north Devon coast.  This area was for many years a Liberal stronghold and was once represented in Parliament by the then Liberal Party leader, Jeremy Thorpe.

Ms Saxby was previously a PPS at the Treasury but resigned in July 2022 in protest at Boris Johnson continuing to remain as prime minister.

Born in 1970, Selaine Saxby was educated at Cambridge University, where she obtained a First Class degree in maths and management. An entrepreneur she founded the independent sports bra retailer Lessbounce.com. She is currently Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Women in Enterprise.

Saxby also formerly set up a Breast Cancer charity, Pink Aerobics, which raised over £500,000 for breast cancer charities through a series of aerobathons.

More recently before becoming an MP, Saxby taught maths at a Secondary School in Bideford.

She was elected to North Devon District Council in 2019.

She is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Broadband and Digital Communications, Celtic Sea, Cycling and Walking, and the Wood Panel Industry.

She likes surfing and gig rowing.
