Bradley, Ben

Ben Bradley is the Conservative MP for Mansfield, having first been elected to Parliament in the 2017.  He was re-elected in the 2019 General Election with a majority of 16,306 over the Labour Party.

The Mansfield constituency is based around the Nottinghamshire market town, on the edges of the former Nottinghamshire mining area.  Prior to 2017, the seat had been held by Labour consistently ever since 1923. Having been won by the Conservatives in 2017, it was an early sign of the red wall collapse that was to come 2 years later.  70% of Mansfield voters supported Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum, one of the highest figures anywhere in the UK.

Ben Bradley was elected to Nottinghamshire County Council in 2017.

In 2021, Mr Bradley was appointed as the leader of Nottinghamshire County Council.   Critics of Mr Bradley suggested that he would not be able to do both jobs full time, and muted potential conflicts of interest.

Mr Bradley on the other hand, suggested that by combining the roles he would be better able to represent his constituents, commenting that, “Instead of trying to climb the career ladder in Westminster and spend my time down there, my commitment is to residents in Nottinghamshire and I will spend that time trying to work here as a county councillor and to deliver better services”.

Born in 1989, Bradley studied politics at Nottingham Trent University.   He worked variously in a supermarket, as a gardener, and in recruitment, and then later as the constituency office manager for Mark Spencer, Conservative MP for Sherwood.

Bradley previously has won the Parliamentary award for having the beard of the year.

He supported Remain in the 2016 EU referendum, but later came to support Brexit.  He backed Esther McVey and then Boris Johnson in the 2019 Conservative leadership election.

He is co-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hockey, and has served as the Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Video Games and Esports

Bradley is married with two children.
