Richard Holden, the Conservative MP for North West Durham, has launched a new bill to outlaw virginity testing.
The practice, which is still offered by some clinics in the UK, has been described as a violation of human rights by the WHO and the UN.
Mr Holden stated that the practice was “medieval”, as he introduced the bill in the House of Commons on Tuesday afternoon.
A second reading will take place on the 8th January.
