Luke Hall was first elected as the Conservative MP for Thornbury & Yate in 2015, being re-elected in 2019 with a majority of 12,639.
The constituency of Thornberry and Yate is found to the north east of Bristol in south Gloucestershire. Once known as the Northavon constituency it contains the towns of Chipping Sodbury, Thornbury, and Yate. A largely affluent area, this seat contains a large number of Bristol based commuters. The seat was held by the Liberal Democrats between 1997 and 2015, before being gained by the Conservatives in 2015 and held with comfortable majorities in the last two elections.
Luke Hall was formerly the deputy chair of the Conservative Party. He resigned in July 2022 in protest at Boris Johnson continuing to remain as prime minister.
Luke Hall served as Minister of State for Regional Growth and Local Government between 2020 and 2021, having previously been Under Secretary of State for Rough Sleeping and Housing between 2019 and 2020.
Born in 1986, Luke Hall worked in retail after leaving school. He first worked for Lidl, and was then the area manager in the South West of England for Farmfoods. At Westminster, he was previously Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Retail.
Hall supported Remain in the 2016 Brexit referendum. He backed Mark Harper and then Sajid Javid in the 2019 Conservative Party leadership election
Hall is a keen sportsman who has previously held an amateur boxing licence.
