‘Saddam’ tape broadcast
A further tape, purporting to be from the ousted Iraqi leader, has been broadcast on Arab TV.
In the tape- released to Al-Arabiya station- a voice is heard mourning the death of Uday and Qusay Hussein.
An English translation of the message reads: “I mourn to you the deaths of Uday and Qusay and those who struggled with them. You are the honour of this nation.”
It praises the men for a: “valiant battle with the enemy lasting six hours” and added: “America will be defeated.”
“We thank God for honouring us with their martyrdom for His sake”
Uday and Qusay were killed by American forces last week in a raid near Mosul. In an effort to convince Iraqis of their death, the American administration allowed pictures of the bodies to be broadcast.
There is as yet no official word from the Americans as to whether the tape is believed to be genuine.
