Names of alleged Morocco bombers released
The two British men held in Morocco on charges related to the May 16 bombings in Casablanca, which killed 44 people, have been named as Perry Jensen and Abdellatif Merroun by the Foreign Office.
The Foreign Office intervened after relatives informed them they had gone missing several weeks ago.
It emerged on Tuesday that they had been arrested.
The charges relate to five bombs targeting a Spanish restaurant, the Belgian consulate, a Jewish community centre, a cemetery and a hotel killed 44 Western and Jewish tourists, including 12 suicide bombers.
Mr Jensen, 37, from London, is charged with “belonging to a criminal gang,” the Foreign Office reported, as well as facing an additional charge of bigamy.
Mr Jensen is in prison in northern city of Fez where he claims he has been held since June 9.
Mr Merroun, 42, who holds dual British and Moroccan nationality, appeared in court on Thursday on terror charges.
On Friday, 29 members of the Islamist group Salafist Jihad were sentenced to up to 30 years in prison on charges of belonging to a criminal organisation, kidnapping and inciting violence.
The bombings have been blamed on the Islamist movement, as well as Osama Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda network.
Over 1,000 people were arrested following the attacks. 700 of them have been charged with direct or indirect involvement in the bombings.
