Two suicide bombings in Jerusalem
A suicide bomber blew himself up at about 23:20 local time (20:20 GMT) in western Jerusalem Tuesday, killing at six and wounding around 47, police said.
The explosion occurred at the Hillel Cafe in the German Colony in western Jerusalem.
The coffee shop owner prevented the suicide bomber from entering the premises, according to reports, saving many lives.
The terror strike came after a second blast was reported at 18:00 local time (15:00GMT) at a crowded bus stop in Rishon Letzion, near Tel Aviv in central Israel. At least seven were killed with some 15 people wounded, 10 seriously, according to witnesses.
The military wing of Hamas, Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for both attacks.
Hamas took revenge after the Israeli army attempted to kill Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin on Saturday.
But Israeli criticised the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) for failing to “reign in terrorists or to dismantle the terror infrastructure in their areas.”
The world waits to see how Israel responds to the heinous acts.
Palestinian PM nominee Ahmed Qureia strongly condemned Tuesday’s suicide bombing attacks.
He expressed “regrets and pain for the innocent lives lost as a result of violence and counter-violence.”
He called on Israeli leaders to “search for ways to end this killing.”
