TUC presidency goes to Lyons
Roger Lyons has been elected as the new TUC president.
The TUC’s general council chose the joint general secretary of union Amicus who will now hold the post for the next 12 months.
Mr Lyons takes over from Nigel de Gruchy.
He is a member of the TUC General Council and speaks on issues pertaining to stakeholding, corporate governance, energy and international issues.
Mr Lyons has been a full-time trade union officer since 1966.
Mr Lyons was a founder member of the Anti-Apartheid Movement.
