Lindh murder suspect arrested
Swedish police have confirmed that a man has been arrested in the hunt for the killer of Foreign Minister Anna Lindh.
46-year-old Mrs Lindh was out shopping without the protection of bodyguards when she was stabbed by a man with a knife on September 10.
Police said the suspect was arrested near the capital, Stockholm.
The man was arrested near a restaurant outside the Raasunda football stadium in a suburb of Stockholm on Tuesday night.
Lindh had been tipped as Sweden’s next PM.
Police put out a photo of the attacker in a nationwide campaign to capture the assailant.
Police spokesman Leif Jennekvist said the suspect appeared to look similar to the picture.
The suspect is expected to undergo a blood test to assess whether his DNA matches genetic material on the baseball cap found near the scene.
