Baby Ames kidnap case reopens
Police have reopened the investigation into the kidnapping 13 years ago of a baby in Southall.
The Metropolitan police have offered reward of £10, 000 for information leading to the finding of Ames Glover. Today marks Ames’ 14th birthday.
Ames is believed to have been taken from his father’s locked car in a 15-minute window while Paul Glover visited a checkpoint and bought a takeaway.
Mr Glover was initially arrested and questioned over his son’s disappearance but has always denied that he played any part in the baby’s disappearance.
Detective Superintendent Gordon Briggs said that the reward was hoped to encourage people who had previously protected the kidnapper to come forward.
‘The reward is aimed not at witnesses who may have been in Southall at the time. It is aimed at people who know what happened to the young child,’ he told Channel Four.
‘There are a group of people who are aware fully of what happened to baby Ames. We are appealing to them to come forward and assist us with this inquiry.’
Ames’ mother, Shanika Ondaatjie, today renewed her emotional appeal for information on the whereabouts of her son.
