NHS website wins award
The NHS’ website – www.nhs.uk – has won the Public Sector Project of the Year in the recent Computing Awards for Excellence 2003.
The website, which provides patients and the public with information about local health services, came out tops over the Environment Agency and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
The website was awarded for its creativity, innovation, effectiveness and strategy.
Judy Aldred, nhs.uk’s programme manager, said: “I’m really delighted. The site has been developed completely in-house by the NHS Information Authority, and it has involved the largest ever collection of NHS data.”
www.nhs.uk disseminates information about local NHS services, such as contact details for local GPs and dentists as well as telling patients about waiting times, patient experience and clinical reputation.
