Mills sees no Leeds future
Danny Mills thinks a return to Leeds United is highly unlikely as long as Peter Reid continues as manager of the club.
The England full-back is currently on a season-long loan at Middlesbrough having fallen out of favour at Elland Road, and is hopeful that the deal can be made permanent.
“I can’t really imagine a scenario where I would go back to Leeds with Peter Reid still there,” Mills told the Daily Mirror newspaper.
“He was quite happy to see me go out on loan to another Premiership club, so obviously he feels I’m not good enough for his team.”
“I don’t fit into his plans at all and I don’t think that will change.”
“Leeds is not part of my career that I have consigned to the history books – you never know what will happen. There is a perfectly reasonable chance that I could end up at Leeds next year.”
“But I want to play week-in, week-out. Football’s my job, it’s what I love doing. If it doesn’t happen at Boro then hopefully there will be other opportunities,” the 26-year-old defender added.
Mills’ attitude to training was questioned by Reid during the summer, and he found himself playing for the reserves before his move to the Riverside, despite having 18 England caps and impressing in last year’s World Cup.
