Israel destroys Palestinian police station
Israeli soldiers have exploded three partly constructed buildings in the central Gaza Strip after evacuating an estimated 2,000 Palestinian residents living nearby to safety, witnesses reported.
The three 13-storey buildings, as well as a police station, overlooked the Netzarim Jewish settlement. They were blasted with dynamite.
The buildings were destroyed because Palestinian militants had used them to stage an attack on Netzarim on Friday in which three soldiers were killed, security sources confirmed.
On Friday, two gunmen from Hamas and Islamic Jihad infiltrated the Netzarim settlement and killed three soldiers, two of them women, in a grenade and gunfire attack.
Separately, ithe West Bank earlier on Saturday, Israeli security forces grabbed two militants from hospitals in the city of Nablus.
One of the militants was a Hamas member.
A second Palestinian militant, Jawad Ishtayeh, was arrested at Nablus’s Rafidia hospital, where he organised a cell of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the militant wing of Hamas, from the hospital’s basement.
