Robber targets four-year-old girl with handgun
A gang aimed a gun at a four-year-old girl as they robbed a shop and post office in Buckinghamshire yesterday.
Three men, armed with a handgun and other weapons attempted and failed to smash through the reinforced counter, before demanding that staff hand over cash. A fourth man remained outside in the getaway vehicle.
The man armed with the handgun stayed by the door, and at one point aimed it at the little girl as he demanded that she look away.
A shop worker was also struck in the head with a baseball bat while the robbers threatened staff and customers. He then ran to the back of the shop where he encountered the driver and fled.
The attack took place on Thursday afternoon and the perpetrators made off with a carrier bag of cash. Detectives believe the car was dark green and possibly a Ford Focus or a new-style Fiesta.
DC Sarah Poolman, who is investigating the incident, encouraged people to come forward with information, saying: ‘This was a terrifying ordeal for all those people in the shop particularly the 4-year-old and her mother. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone who knows about the incident to call police or call Crimestoppers anonymously.’
