Sophie “excited” at baby reunion
Prince Edward’s wife, the Countess of Wessex, has been reunited with her daughter, six days after the Royal baby was born by emergency Caesarean section.
Sophie is recovering at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, while the baby, who has not yet been named, has been treated at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, London. She was born a month premature, weighing 4lb 9oz (2.1kg).
The baby was brought back to Frimley Park Hospital around midday today.
Buckingham Palace said Sophie was “hugely excited” to see her baby again.
The Countess will reportedly remain in hospital for the time being. Edward has visited both his wife and their daughter daily, after flying back from Mauritius for the birth.
Both mother and baby are understood to be progressing well. A spokeswoman added: “There is no cause for concern.”
