Queen Mary 2 greeted by hundreds
Crowds flocked to see the world’s biggest and most expensive cruise liner, the Queen Mary 2, as it arrived at its new home port of Southampton.
A flotilla of small boats accompanied the Cunard-owned Queen Mary 2 as it arrived from the St Nazaire shipyard in western France.
The 150,000-tonne ship docked at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Terminal at Southampton at 1300GMT Friday to the hymns of Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia.
The GBP550m ship is to be officially named at Southampton by the Queen on January 8.
Four days later the vessel will carry 2,600 passengers on its maiden passenger voyage to Florida.
