The Cambridge Rapist dies
Peter Cook aka The Cambridge Rapist has died in prison of natural causes.
The 75-year old was sent down for raping six women, injuring two others and committing an act of gross indecency on a ninth woman in a series of sex attacks which brought fear and anxiety to the university town in mid 1970s.
In 1975, Cook was given two life sentences after being found guilty at Norwich Crown Court.
The judge Mr Justice Melford Stevenson said Cook should never be freed.
Cook was also dubbed the “hooded rapist” because of his strange penchant for wearing a leather mask during his vicious assaults.
Cook died at Winchester Prison, Hants on Wednesday night.
