Jet lands in Ireland after bomb alert
A Delta Airlines jet flying from Germany to the US made an emergency landing Sunday in Ireland due to an apparent bomb threat.
Siobhan Moore, spokeswoman for airport operating firm, Aer Rianta, said the Atlanta-bound flight landed at Shannon airport after the crew found a note in a toilet suggesting there was a bomb aboard two hours into the 10-hour journey.
The aircraft was moved to a remote part of the Co Clare airport after the Boeing 767-300 Delta flight 27 landed at 12:38GMT yesterday.
It was later searched after the expiration of the flight time.
Police confirmed the landing was “security-related.”
The 147 passengers aboard the aircraft, after being questioned by police, will fly to Atlanta on Monday on a different plane.
Investigators confirmed late last night the bomb threat proved to be unsubstantiated.
