Al Qaeda offers deal with Europe
Osama bin Laden has said he will curtail attacks on Europe if it “stops attacking Muslims”.
But there will be no let-up in attacks on the United States.
The news comes after an audio-tape, reportedly from Osama bin Laden, was aired by the al-Arabiya satellite channel.
“I offer a truce to [Europe] with a commitment to stop operations against any state which vows to stop attacking Muslims or interfere in their affairs,” the tape stated.
“The announcement of the truce starts with the withdrawal of the last soldier from our land and the door is open for three months from the date of the announcement of this statement,” the voice on the tape added.
The tape also promises vengeance on Israel for the killing of Hamas spiritual leader Ahmed Sheikh Yassin.
“President Bush and leaders in his sphere, big media institutions, and the United Nations … all of them are a fatal danger to the world, and the Zionist lobby is their most dangerous and difficult member, and we insist, God willing, on continuing to fight them,” the voice on the tape said.
The tape also makes reference to the March 11th Madrid rail bombings and the September 11th terrorist attacks.
“What happened on September 11th and March 11th are your goods returned to you so that you know security is a necessity for all,” the voice on the tape asserted.
As yet the authenticity of the tape has not been verified.
