Labour tops third quarter donations
The Labour party received more money through donations than any other political party, according to new figures.
The Electoral Commission today published the register of donations to political parties for the third quarter of 2004.
The register shows that Labour received £3.7 million, compared to £2.4 million received by the Conservatives and £915,523 received by the Liberal Democrats.
Labour received contributions from 294 donors, whilst 170 individual donors contributed to the Conservatives and 54 to the Liberal Democrats.
The British National Party received £21,250 during the third quarter of 2004, which is more than either the Scottish National Party (£17,064) or Plaid Cymru (£11,285).
UKIP’s third quarter donations fell to £175,576 from £1.2 million in the previous quarter.
