Lords to hear hunting appeal

The House of Lords is to hear the Countryside Alliance’s appeal against the Parliament Act and the Hunting Act.

The alliance has lost two previous court cases as it attempted to argue that the Parliament Act, used to push through the Hunting Act against the wishes of the House of Lords, was invalid.

Now the Law Lords are to hear the case – the final appeal possible in the English courts.

Nine law lords will hear the case over two days. A date has not been set, but it will be before July 28 2005 .
