Mass demonstration outside American embassy
Anti-war protestors are predicting a turnout of tens of thousands for an anti-war protest outside the American embassy in London.
This will be the first mass protest at the Grosvenor Square site since the large-scale protests over the Vietnam War in 1968.
Stop the War Coalition organisers say that demonstrators’ moods have been hardened by the nomination of Paul Wolfowitz as chairman of the World Bank.
“One might have expected a little humility from the Bush Administration after it’s destruction and occupation of Iraq. However, the nomination of Wolfowitz, the man who is recognised as chief architect of war with Iraq, will outrage most decent people,” said convenor Lindsey German.
