Conservative MP ejected for Hodge jibe
A Conservative MP has been ejected from the House of Commons after accusing Children’s Minister Margaret Hodge of misleading the House.
Tewksbury MP Laurence Robertson said Ms Hodge had provided an “inadequate” and “dishonest” answer to a question about the closure of a special school in his constituency and another in nearby Cheltenham.
“You have misled the House,” he added.
Upon refusing the Speaker’s request to withdraw the remark, Mr Robertson was ordered to leave the chamber and promptly did so.
It comes only a week after Plaid Cymru MP Adam Price was thrown out of the chamber for claming that Tony Blair had misled Parliament over the war in Iraq.
