Environmental campaigners ‘flood’ Parliament
Environmental campaigners today projected an image of a rising River Thames onto the Houses of Parliament in a stunt to highlight the impact of climate change.
The image of the flooded Palace of Westminster was accompanied by the slogan: “Vote to Stop Climate Chaos”.
It is part of a campaign by WWF to get politicians to take tougher action on climate change in the run-up to the general election. Climate change could lead to a five degree Celsius rise in summer temperatures in London and the South East, and a 30 per cent increase in winter rainfall, according to a UK Climate Impact Programme report.
Andrew Lee, director of campaigns at WWF, said: “It is vital that the next government makes the right decisions over the next parliamentary term. Ignoring the issue is not an option.”
