BNP leader bailed
Nick Griffin, chairman of the BNP, and founding chairman John Tyndall have been bailed after appearing in court on race hate charges.
Appearing in court today after being charged with race hate offences both men were granted unconditional bail and ordered to appear at Leeds magistrates’ court on May 19.
Mr Griffin, 45, of Welshpool, entered no plea in relation to the charge of four counts of using words or behaviour intended or likely to stir up racial hatred.
He was arrested last December following an inquiry by West Yorkshire police after the BBC’s Secret Agent documentary into BNP activists, which aired in July 2004.
Mr Tyndall, 70, of Brighton, was charged with two of the same offences following a speech made in Burnley in March 2004.
