Galloway and King set for head-to-head debate
George Galloway and Ooana King will go head-to-head in a debate on Muslims and politics this weekend.
Former Labour MP and Respect leader Mr Galloway is attempting to unseat Ms King in Bethnal Green & Bow, which has got a large Muslim population.
On Saturday, they will be members of a panel for Muslims & Politics – the Ultimate Debate, which also includes Conservative candidate for the seat, Shahagir Bakth Faruk, and Jalaluddin Patel leader of Hizb-ut-Tahrir.
The debate will examine what the character of political involvement should be for the Muslim community and the possible impact Muslims can have on British policy making.
Shofiquez Zaman, managing director of event organisers IQra Media, said: “This is a crucial event preceding the general election where an unprecedented platform has been organised that allows the views of some of the key players in the Muslim community to be expressed and debated.”
