GMB attacks Howard’s ‘hypocrisy’ on NHS

The GMB union is running adverts in today’s Guardian, Independent and Mirror attacking Michael Howard’s “hypocrisy” over the health service.

The union said public sector workers had had enough of Michael Howard “talking down the NHS”.

They are angry that Mr Howard poses for photos with NHS staff, before attacking them over dirty wards.

Sharon Holder, GMB national officer for the NHS said: “Our members proud of our public services and the people who work in them. Our members are sick of Michael Howard running them down.”

The advert displays a picture of Mr Howard above the slogan “Accusing NHS staff is a shameful way to campaign for better hygiene in the NHS”.

Tackling MRSA has been a key feature of the Conservative campaign. Mr Howard said: “I’m angry about the 5,000 people who die every year from hospital-acquired infections in our country, that’s what I’m angry about.”
