MoD opens wartime art
Rarely seen works of art focusing on the effects of the Second World War on those left at home are to go on display to the general public.
Pictures belonging to the Ministry of Defence, which normally adorn military buildings, will be displayed for one month from July 8 in the Banqueting House in Whitehall.
Entitled Warriors for the Working Day the exhibition will focus on support activities such as the air raid wardens, home guard and fire service.
The display is timed to coincide with the UK’s first Veterans Awareness Week, being held from 4-10 July.
Admission will be free.
