New Armed Forces PFI contract

The Government has signed a new PFI contract to provide plant equipment for the Armed Forces.

The Amey Lex Consortium will supply the Armed Forces with heavy equipment, including construction and digging machines, for use both in peace and wartime on infrastructure and building projects.

The contract is estimated to be worth £600 million over a 15-year period.

Lord Drayson, Minister for Defence Procurement, said: “By providing modern and efficient support vehicles for the UK’s Armed Forces, this PFI contract will improve the capability of our front line troops, whilst saving the taxpayer money. In this case the PFI method proved to be the best choice for value-for-money service delivery.”
