Galloway brands Blair Labour’s ‘murderer’
Respect MP George Galloway last night accused Tony Blair of “murdering” the Labour Party.
The former Labour MP for Glasgow Kelvin and now Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow said the premier had Labour “by the throat”.
Speaking at the Mansion House in Tyneside, Mr Galloway said Respect was now the only party that represented the views and interests of the working class.
Mr Galloway is preparing for the opening night of his speaking tour “The Mother of All One Man Shows”.
The tour sees Mr Galloway travelling to the US and elsewhere for 20 dates.
“I think the vast majority of people who live in Labour heartlands want Labour values,” he said.
“New Labour has murdered those values and it is our case that every country needs a party like the Labour Party and this country does not have a Labour Party.
“Mr Blair has lost three million Labour voters in eight years and he has lost half the membership of the Labour party.
“That is directly related to the murder of Labour values by the Blairite clique.
Mr Galloway also vowed to lead protesters at the G8 summit in Gleneagles in July.
He said marchers at the Stop the War rally “won’t be denied” their right to voice feelings against the “desperados” at the summit at Gleneagles.
“We have a right to march on the streets of our own country,” the 50-year-old said.
