Commission for Integrated Transport chair unveiled
Peter Hendy has been appointed as the new chairman of the Commission for Integrated Transport.
He replaces Professor David Begg in the role, whose period in charge concluded on 31 March 2005, Transport Secretary Alistair Darling confirmed.
David Leeder has been acting chairman of the commission, which provides independent advice to Government on future transport policy options, in the interim.
Mr Hendy, who is currently managing director of surface transport for Transport for London, takes up his three-year appointment on 1 July 2005.
He has been a member of the commission since July 2004.
