Ballot for Brown Iraq appearance
By politics.co.uk staff
A ballot will be held to decide which members of the public can attend the prime minister’s appearance at the Iraq inquiry.
No date has been set for Gordon Brown’s evidence session, but the inquiry team confirmed it would take place in early March.
A similar ballot was held when former prime minister Tony Blair appeared before Sir John Chilcot’s committee last month.
Yesterday, former foreign secretary Jack Straw gave evidence to the inquiry, where he denied misrepresenting Britain’s position on the legality of invading Iraq to US leaders in the run-up to the invasion.
